| Summary: |
The State Food and Drug Administration of China will disseminate nine categories of government information to the public automatically under the new “PRC Government Information Disclosure Act” which went into effect on May 1, 2008, according to Yan Jiangying, spokewoman of the SFDA. SFDA's government information refers to that which is produced or obtained by the agency during the process of fulfilling its legal responsibilities, and is recorded and saved in certain formats.
The nine categories of such information to be disseminated by the SFDA automatically include internal organization structure and departmental responsibilities, personnel information, law and regulations, government announcements, government plans, general administrative affairs, essential data, administrative licenses and latest trends.
In addition to the nine categories of government information to be automatically released by the SFDA, citizens, legal persons and other organizations can also apply to the SFDA for access to relevant government information on the basis of their special needs for production, life, R&D, etc. under the new “PRC Government Information Disclosure Act”.
SFDA began to accept such applications for access to government information on May 1, 2008, and these applications should be submitted to the Office of SFDA's Open Administrative Affairs Leaders Group.
