Simcere Pharmaceutical Group. announced on May 14 that it secured approval from the Chinese State Food and Drug Administration to manufacture and market generic Biapenem injection under the brand name Anxin.

Anxin is the first Biapenem injection approved for sale in China and is indicated for the treatment of patients with serious infections, who have experienced resistance to other antibiotics.

The company will have an exclusive four-year marketing period. Biapenem has a potential market of RMB 1.6 billion in china.
