Shenzhen-listed Chongqing Holley Pharma, a subsidiary of Holley Group Holdings, announced in September 2008 that it received an official ruling from the Patent Review Board of the State Intellectual Property Protection Office which upheld its request to invalidate patent #ZL00113134.6 for dihydroartemisinin/piperaquine tablet held by Chongqing Jianqiao Pharmaceutical Development Co. Ltd. on the ground that it is not innovative.

Earlier Chongqing Jianqiao sued Holley Pharma for infringement of its patent and Chongqing Municipal No.1 Intermediate People's Court ruled in July this year in favor of the plaintiff and ordered Holley Pharma to stop production and sales of the product. Holley Pharma appealed to the higher court subsequently. The case is now completely overturned with Holley's success for invalidation.
