Shao Mingli, Commissioner of the State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), met the visiting Australian Minister for Health and Aging Tony Abbott, Australian Ambassador to China Geoffrey William Raby and a delegation led by them on April 26, 2007.

At the request of the Australian side, Shao Mingli briefly introduced China's food and drug regulatory system and the status quo of China's pharmaceutical industry development, and reviewed the long-term cooperation between the two countries in drug regulatory fields.

Both sides conducted an in-depth discussion on the challenges in drug regulatory fields, especially in aspects such as quality standards for traditional drugs and clinical trial supervision.
