According to information from the SFDA, a new office under its Drug Market Supervision Department, the Office for Drug Market Supervision, was established recently.

A number of government units are withdrawn at the same time, they include: the Office of Advertising Evaluation and Supervision under the SFDA, the Drug Supervision Department and the Advertising Evaluation and Supervision Department of China National Institute for Control of Drugs and Biological Products (CNICDBP).

The newly established Office for Drug Market Supervision is directly under the Drug Market Department of the SFDA and it is established to streamline administrative responsibilities and operations in the drug market supervision area. The office has taken over the entire jurisdictions and responsibilities of the above withdrawn units, and other jurisdictions and responsibilities as follows:

1) Responsibilities over sample examination of drugs and drug inspection vehicles that were formerly under CNICDBP;

2) Responsibilities over sample examination of biological products and vaccines that were formerly under the the Department of Biological Product Examination of CNICDBP; and

3) Responsibilities over sample examination, supervision and inspection of medical devices that were formerly under the the Department of Medical Device Inspection and Examination of CNICDBP.
