OTC drugs have played a major role in the global pharmaceutical industry.  In Asia, the OTC market will expand at an annual growth rate of 7.02% through 2008-2012.  Despite the economic downturn, the pharmaceutical sector is holding up very well.  Key OTC demand drivers include: ageing populations, a lower reliance on traditional remedies, the switching of prescription drugs to OTC, and increased patient responsibility for healthcare.  There is great potential in the Asian market for regionally-based OTC manufacturers with strong marketing divisions, but growth rates and trends will be far from uniform across the region.

The potential is there, however companies must be able to manage the risks, explore opportunities and build strategic relationships with key stakeholders.  This conference will be beneficial for those in pharma and OTC drug manufacturers, distributors and retailers to keep up with the market dynamics and consumer’s attitude towards OTC medications.

The conference,  OTC Pharma Asia - Capitalising on new market development & Building a sustainable growth strategy, shall position Asia as the fastest growing OTC player and a hub for OTC market.  It shall feature pharmaceutical updates, overview of healthcare sector, regulatory framework, impact of IPR, branding and innovation and opportunities for alliance/partnership, for each Asian country (Singapore, India, China, Malaysia, Australia/NZ, USA, Indonesia, Philippines).  It shall also highlight latest development on drugs and innovation on OTC.  On top of it being a networking opportunity for pharma stakeholders, it is a venue to share best practices, techniques and strategies by the top pharma executives in the region to strengthen the future marketplace.
